New media company Amber Entertainment and retail giant Tesco have teamed up to create exclusive DVD premiere feature films based on authors’ works, including kidlit authors.

Films in the works for release in Tesco stores for this year and next include projects based on works by authors such as Philip Pullman, Judy Blume, Dick and Felix Francis, Karin Slaughter, Jacqueline Wilson and Anne Perry.

The first project to come out of the venture, Paris Connections, is currently in pre-production in France and is being produced by Amber Entertainment with best-selling author Jackie Collins. The DVD premiere will be available in Tesco stores this May.

Amber is based in London and L.A., was created last year by New Line Cinema vets Ileen Maisel, Mark Ordesky and Jane Fleming with documentary and TV producer Lawrence Elman.
