Italia Uno picks up Viz anime series Kilari

Paris-based VIZ Media Europe's animated series Kilari is premiering on Italia Uno today and the broadcaster's CP arm has lined up a number of licensing deals to support the launch.

Paris-based VIZ Media Europe’s animated series Kilari is premiering on Italia Uno today. Episodes from the first and second season will air three times a week as part of the network’s regular animated program offering.

Mediaset/RTI, which owns and operates Italia Uno, has more than 9.9 million viewers and a total audience share of nearly 40%. Mediaset’s launch of Kilari follows Teletoon France’s September 2008 launch of the series.

Along with the broadcast deal, Viz has tapped Mediaset/RTI as the Italian licensing agent for the property. And Mediaset/RTI has lined up more than 14 licensees for the boy-skewing IP, including Caleffi (bed linens), Dolber (confectionery), Dolfin (chocolate products and confectionery), Edibas (lamincards, 3-D figurines, posters, calendars), Edizioni Playpress (activity , coloring books), Franzoni (socks, underwear, pyjamas, swimwear), GiEffe Moda (Apparel), Ciga (toys, dolls), Harvest (cosmetics, toiletries), Image (transfer 3-D, tattoos), Modecor (cakes, sparkling juice), Panini (magazines, stickers & albums), Seven (back to school, stationery), Silvano Marini (huts, gloves, scarf), Ventitre (clocks, watches) and WorldCart (tissues).

Viz has also inked a deal with Konami Digital Entertainment to produce the first Kilari video game. The game, called Kilari, Na-san, my best friend will be a new life simulator title for the Nintendo DS.
