It looks like the Winx Club is getting the feature film treatment again, as Loreto, Italy’s Rainbow has put a second theatrical release based on the property into production. And this time, the prodco’s going 3-D.
The Magic is Back (working title) will be the first movie ever to be produced in Italy using 3-D stereoscopic technology, entirely animated at Rainbow’s Rome studio. It’ll launch in the territory for back-to-school 2010, with staggered releases in Europe and the rest of the world.
Winx’s first theatrical release, The Secret of the Lost Kingdom, brought in US$8 million in Italy and landed distribution in all major European markets.
