Ratings Watch: Disney Channel, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon

Scoring the title of TV’s top network on a total day basis with tweens during the week of September 14 was Disney Channel. The kidnet delivered TV’s top-three telecasts, led by The Suite Life on Deck and Hannah Montana.

As for the kids six to 11 group, DC had TV’s top-five telecasts, also scoring the title of cable’s number-one network in primetime, with kids six to 11 and tweens nine to 14.

Sunday’s new ep of Hannah saw double-digit percentage gains, also ranking as cable’s top scripted telecast in total viewers, tied with Friday’s ep of Suite Life, which came in as TV’s top telecast in kids six to 11. Friday’s back-to-back replays of Phineas and Ferb were TV’s top two animated telecasts in kids six to 1 and tweens nine to 14.

Playhouse Disney, meanwhile, saw Mickey Mouse Clubhouse come in as TV’s number four program in kids two to five, with Handy Manny finding a home among the week’s top 10 in the key preschool demo.

The Wednesday night premieres of Cartoon Network’s latest live-action alternative series Bobb’E Says (8 p.m.) and Dude What Would Happen(8:30 p.m.) scored their best-to-date deliveries among boys two to 11, kids six to 11, boys six to 11 and kids nine to 14. As a result, overall Wednesday prime time kids two to 11 delivery rose by 10%, kids six to 11 delivery by 24% and kids 9-14 delivery by 26%. Compared to the same time period last year, Bobb’E Says earned 21% delivery growth among boys two to 11, 33% growth among kids six to 11, 65% growth among boys six to11, 61% growth among kids 9-14 and 114% growth among boys nine to14.

Over at Cartoon Network, Dude What Would Happen continues to see success, as the new series posts an 11% delivery growth among kids two to 11, 30% with boys two to 11, 53% growth with kids six to 11, 73% among boys six 11, 86% with kids nine to 14 and 116% with boys nine to 14.

The net’s primetime performance saw an encore telecast of Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins (Tuesday, 8 p.m.), earning triple-digit ratings and delivery increases across all kids demos, between 116% and 145%.

And CN also debuted a new third-season ep of Ben 10: Alien Force (Friday), bringing in double-digit delivery and ratings gains across the board compared to 2008. It also saw increases with kids two to 11 delivery by 48% and ratings (2.6) by 44%. Delivery for the kids six to 11 set (695,000) grew by 37% and ratings (2.8) by 33%. And kids nine to 14 delivery (442,000) jumped by 23% and ratings (1.8) by 20%. It also saw some healthy gains with the boys crowd, seeing delivery with the two-to-11 set up by 40%, 31% with boys six to 11, and boys nine to 14 by 36%.

Nickelodeon had ratings highlights of its own, seeing solid performances of The Penguins of Madagascar, iCarly and True Jackson, VP during the same week, topping the kids two-to-11 set and total viewers with an average of 1.8 million total viewers and a 2.8/1.0 million kids two-to-11.

A new episode of Penguins (Saturday, Sept. 19, 10-10:30 a.m. ET/PT) was the number-one animated kids’ telecast among total viewers and the top animated telecast with kids two to 11 for the week. A new iCarly ep (Saturday, Sept. 19, 8 a.m to 8:30 p.m. ET/PT) saw double-digit gains for the night over last year’s like time period, earning 3.8 million total viewers

True Jackson (Saturday, Sept. 19, 8:30-9 p.m. ET/PT), meanwhile, won its time period with tweens, averaging a 4.5/960,000 T9-14 (+73%), a 5.5/1.2 million with kids six to 11 (up 57%) and 2.8 million total viewers.

Nick premiered The Troop last Friday (Sept. 18, 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. ET/PT), which saw double-digit gains of 10% with kids six to 11, 42% with tweens nine to 14 and 8% in delivery with total viewers (1.8 million) over last year’s time period.

Nick Jr.’s Go, Diego, Go! one-hour special (Friday, Sept. 14, 10 a.m. to11 a.m. ET/PT) drew 1.4 million total viewers and year-over-year gains with kids two to five (5.4/750,000), and Nick at Nite’s Monday (Sept. 14, 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. ET/PT) ep of Glenn Martin, DDS delivered 2.1 million.
