Now that its agreements with HIT Entertainment and Warner Bros. have expired, The Jim Henson Company will be on-deck at MIPCOM next month with its family classics and fantasy library titles in tow.
Head of international sales Sam Ewing is looking to expand Henson’s reach and impact across various territories.
Currently in the roster are Fraggle Rock (96 x half hours, with film and TV projects in development), Jim Henson’s Mother Goose Stories (39 x eight minutes), Emmet Otter’s Jug – Band Christmas, Jim Henson’s The Hoobs (250 x 30 minutes), Jim Henson’s Construction Site (26 x 30 minutes) and Jim Henson’s Mopatop’s Shop (260 x eight minutes).
Its fantasy slate includes full-length feature Labyrinth (102 minutes), produced by The Jim Henson Company and executive producer George Lucas, live-action fantasy The Dark Crystal (1 x 93 minutes), and sci-fi series Farscape (88 x 60 minutes; miniseries: 2 x 120 minutes).
In the meantime, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release blu-ray HD versions of Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal in the US on September 29. For the 10th anniversary of Farscape in November, A&E Home Entertainment and TJHC will re-launch DVDs in the US with its first-ever Complete Series Megaset with all four seasons.
On the licensing front, SVP global consumer products Melissa Segal will also be looking to establish L&M programs for all brands.
