Four new series are in development at Sesame Workshop, as the producer of classic preschool show Sesame Street readies its slate for MIPCOM.
Fairy-in-training Abby Cadabby is getting the 3-D treatment in Abby’s Flying Fairy School, a nine-minute CGI animated series for preschoolers designed to foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills. From Peter De Séve, character designer for Ice Age, the series will see Abby Cadabby with new friends attending Fairy School with Ms. Sparklenose.
Other series in the works are Munchin’ Impossible (26 x five minutes), which sees a gingerbread cookie, head of the Cookie Intelligence Agency, leading efforts to save the cookies of the world from Cookie Monster’s appetite by sending him to various locations to find healthy alternatives. The puppet series with live-action segments will encourage kids to discover more about healthy foods.
Adventure series Elmo’s Backyard (26 x five minutes) sees the familiar red monster exploring his backyard, and viewers around the world can participate in the series by sending in photos, drawings and videos of their own backyards. The series will introduce kids to science education, learning through exploration and discovery and build their vocabulary.
Finally, 3-2-1 Let’s Go (working title, 52 x half-hours), is an original preschool block hosted by Abby Cadabby that’ll feature segments from Play With Me Sesame and Global Grover and introduce young viewers to Bert and Ernie’s Great Adventures. Abby will invite the audience to play and cheer on her friends between segments.
