The Beeb has tapped Damian Kavanagh take on the role of CBBC controller, recently vacated by Anne Gilchrist who left the post to join BBC’s In-House Comedy department.

Kavanaugh is taking up his new remit later this year, starting with a one-year term and is charged with overseeing all programs and multiplatform commissioning for CBBC and its two dedicated blocks on BBC One and Two. He moves over from the job at BBC Daytime as head of planning and scheduling. Kavanaugh also served as executive producer on shows including Escape to The Country, Hospital Heroes and The Unsellables. Prior to that he worked as an indie commissioning executive and head of scheduling at BBC Children’s.
