Disney Channel’s latest original movie premiere featuring two of its young female stars, came in as TV’s number one entertainment telecast of the year with kids and tweens.
Princess Protection Program, starring Selena Gomez (Wizards of Waverly Place) and Demi Lovato (Sonny With A Chance) was tops with kids six to 11 (3.1 million viewers) and tweens nine to 14 (3.2 million) when it made its DC debut on Friday, June 26, 2009 (8 p.m. to 9:45 p.m.), and also captured the title of cable’s most-watched scripted telecast with total viewers (8.5 million)
The original movie was ranked as DC’s number three original movie of all time in total viewers, only behind Camp Rock and High School Musical 2.
