Chapman Entertainment reported a strong Q1, owing primarily to resilient properties Roary the Racing Car and Fifi and the Flowertots.

Roary the Racing Car, which launched in 2007, showed a 15% first-quarter growth over licensee forecasts in the UK, with a solid performance in all categories. According to last month’s NPD numbers, the brand is now the number two preschool boys’ property in the UK.

In Europe, Chapman Entertainment is reporting a 56% growth for Roary, a 36% growth for Q1 globally. Two category highlight are the 44% increase in Roary publishing revenues and a 21% bump in the apparel category.
