British kidnet CBBC has launched two new science-based series as a part of the Beeb’s overall mandate to produce 550 hours of factual programming for the 2009/2010 season, dubbed BBC’s Year of Science.
Space Hoppers, a seven x half-hour interplanetary adventure featuring physicist Professor Brian Cox will launch in 2010. The series explores the wonders of the Solar System, blending global adventures with explosive experiments and CGI effects.
In addition, the follow-up season of Richard Hammond’s Blast Lab, a 26 x half-hour science-centric game show will bow on BBC Two on Saturday, June 20 at 8.30 a.m.
The first season of the series aired earlier this year and peaked with a 23.3% share with six to 12-year-old viewers.
