Nickelodeon inks Central Europe broadcast deals

Nickelodeon has signed a slew of  deals with Central European third-party broadcasters. which have snapped up licenses for the several series in the company's portfolio of animated and live-action fare.

Nickelodeon has signed a slew of  deals with Central European third-party broadcasters. which have snapped up licenses for the several series in the company’s portfolio of animated and live-action fare.

In Ukraine, free to air channel NLO TV has licensed season one of scripted live-action series The Greenhouse, and seasons one and two of live-action favorites Supah Ninjas and The Troop. Satellite broadcaster Viasathas signed a deal for season two of T.U.F.F Puppy in Latvia, and season one of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (pictured) and season two of Kung Fu Panda in Latvia and Estonia. It’s also taken season one of Legend of Korra in Lithuania.

Serbia’s Happy TV has followed suit, taking season one of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Planet Sheen, Tak and the Power of Juju and Kikoriki.

In Lithuania, free-to-air channel LNK has ramped up its Nickelodeon movie offering, licensing Best Player, Big Time Rush Movie, Merry Christmas Drake and Josh, Rags The American Mall and The Boy Who Cried Werewolf.  

Additionally in the same market, free to air Baltijos TV has licensed season one of Aaahh!!! Real Monsters.

Finally, in Kazakhstan, NTK/KTK has signed a major deal that covers several animated favorites including season two of Bubble Guppies and Kung Fu Panda, season 1 to 3 of Penguins of Madagascar and season 1 of Back at the Barnyard.

In other Nickelodeon news, the network has announced the expansion of its outreach program to unearth and identify new writing talent to international territories.

Meanwhile, Nickelodeon will launch its Writing Program, based on the success of its US edition, starting next month. It is designed to attract writers spanning all international markets, cultures and backgrounds. One applicant will be selected for a salaried writing position at Nickelodeon’s international headquarters based in London.
