Tapping into its fans’ needs for additional content, Electronic Arts is letting players create and share their own movies, manage online content and buy additional in-game content as The Sims 3 for PC and Mac gets set for a worldwide launch on June 2.

A second town will be available for download from TheSims3.com, which will also include the Create a Movie tool, where players-cum-directors set up camera angles within the game to capture footage.

The game comes with US$10 worth of SimPoints, which players can spend at the website for exclusive in-game items, and can purchase bundles of 500, 1,000 and 2,000 SimPoints. Meanwhile, the site’s Game Launcher provides players with news and info about game updates, new content, store promos and community activities.

TheSims3.com will also feature The Exchange, which saw more than 100 million downloads when it was included in The Sims 2. This feature highlights the most popular downloads and has powerful search and browse capabilities to show players what others in the community are recommending.
