Kids will soon be able to furnish their rooms with Nickelodeon characters, as Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products teams up with La-Z-Boy Incorporated’s Lea Industries Division to develop licensed youth furniture.
The deal will bring Dora, Diego, SpongeBob, The Wonder Pets!, iCarly and Nick’s signature Slime to a line of kids and teens bedroom furniture, home office, bureaus, display cases, armoires and entertainment systems. It’ll incorporate features like English dovetail drawers and side-mounted ball bearing drawer guides, retailing at mid-tier price points.
Three lines are currently in development – Nick Jr. will target the three to seven age set, featuring Dora, Diego and classic SpongeBob imagery. The Nick set zeroes in on the seven- to 11 year-olds, which will focus on the Splat logo and the stylized and silhouetted SpongeBob graphics. TEENick, meanwhile, will turn its focus to the tween and teen market, offering more sophisticated and contemporary social setting.
The furniture will be intro’d at the October High Point Market, with retail shipments beginning in January 2010.
