Cardiff, Wales-based Calon TV is bringing the puppets to CBBC. The pubcaster has commissioned the indie prodco to produce comic puppet talent show Zoo Factor for late 2009.
Targeting kids eight to 10, the 13 x 20-minute series melds elements of Britain’s Got Talent with The Muppet Show, where wild animals with unusual talents gather together each week and compete in front of a panel of judges.
The series is set for delivery this fall. Former commissioning editor at Five Alan Nixon is onboard as producer/director and he’ll be working with scriptwriter Mark Evans and puppeteer Simon Buckley, who’s worked on Bear Behaving Badly. Calon holds distribution rights for the show.
