US satellite service provider DirecTV and nonprofit org Common Sense Media have teamed up to help the service’s millions of customers ID kid-appropriate programming for their households.

CSM will provide a breakdown of detailed, age-based info and reviews for regular, pay-per-view and on-demand programming online at Directv.com. Its ratings system, based on childhood development criteria, will help families figure out what’s appropriate for their kids, from movies, video games, TV shows, websites, books and music. And, after their assessment, parents can immediately program their DVR right through the website.
