Ellipsanime’s comic-based animated series Genius will be joining Canal J and Gulli’s schedules, thanks to a distribution deal signed by Mediatoon.

The 78 x seven-minute CGI toon targets kids six to 10 with stories about a brilliant inventor Master, whose new ideas and concepts are nearly kyboshed in each episode by the bumbling ineptitude of his lazy and clumsy sidekick.

The comic book series from Turk and De Groot, published by Le Lombard, has sold more than six million copies to date. Volume 40 is set for publication in March 2010, and an encyclopedia of the Master’s inventions will be published this December, just prior to an exhibition at the Angoulême Comics Festival in January.

Canal J will debut the animated series, before it goes over to Gulli for a second window. Both broadcasters will bolster the brand with a companion website featuring games and interactivity.
