It looks like Marvel’s universe is about to expand in the online world. Marvel Entertainment has just inked a deal with San Mateo, California-based Gazillion Entertainment to develop MMOGs based on its portfolio of superhero properties.

The worldwide licensing partnership will see Gazillion develop and publish MMOGs featuring more than 5,000 characters from Marvel films and animated series.

The first game on the development slate is a casual MMOG for younger players, based on Super Hero Squad. Gazillion is also working on a Marvel Universe MMOG for PC and console systems, with more details to follow in the coming months.
