Though he’ll still be continuing in his role as controller of BBC Children’s until 2010, Richard Deverell has been named COO of the Beeb’s new broadcasting and production center at Salford Quays in Manchester.
Deverell will be reporting to BBC North director Peter Salmon and will deputize for Salmon as required. Developing and implementing strategic and operational infrastructure for BBC North is Devrell’s top priority in the new post. He’ll also continue his oversight of CBBC and CBeebies, a role he took in 2006. Once his current work at the channels is finished, his soon-to-be vacated position will be up for grabs.
