It’s been six months since Nickelodeon’s 24-hour African channel launched. And as it’s made its way to more than 1.5-million subscribers in the Southern part of the continent, MTVNI is expanding its presence to other outlets, including online, mobile and consumer products.
English-language site www.NickelodeonAfrica.com is slated to launch later this month, targeting kids two to 14 years old, with a range of interactive elements from games, downloads, programming news and community areas. The Vodacom network in Nigeria, South Africa and Tanzania will also boast a Nickelodeon mobile channel with its popular shows, refreshing weekly, and available in Nigeria, South Africa and Tanzania,
Character Licensing & Marketing, the agency repping Nick’s portfolio in Southern Africa, is set to rollout a CP program for SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer this year, focusing on toys, gifts, apparel, housewares and home entertainment.
On the distribution front, Nickelodeon Africa will be expanding its reach in the continent and will be seeking new opps for branded Nickelodeon programming blocks on terrestrial broadcasters.
