Paris-based Cyber Group Studios has picked up The Long Long Holiday, an new animated series about World War II from Les Armateurs.

The series (10 x 26 minutes) focuses on the Second World War from a child’s perspective. It recounts the daily life of a brother and sister, left at their grandparent’s house on the coast of Normandy for the duration of the war. It’s based on eyewitness accounts of people who were between seven and 20 at the time of the war, and each ep will be accompanied by one-minute segments featuring interviews with people who were children during the war.

Produced by Les Armateurs (The Triplets of Belleville, Kirikou, Ernest and Celestine), the show targets children ages six to 12 and their families. It will air in May 2015, which marks the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.

The Long Long Holiday is meant to educate kids about the war, and help bridge the gap between great-grandparents and today’s kids.

Cyber Group has worldwide distribution rights. The French producer and distributor inked this deal with Les Armateurs a month after announcing it intends to ramp up its distribution activity.
