Disney Channel UK now reaches two million kids across the territory, while preschool channel Playhouse Disney doubled its 2007 share in 2008, making it the fastest-growing kids channel of the year.
Disney Channel’s multiplex share is now up 9% over the past year, with a 5.1% share that beat its 2007 record of 4.9%. Ratings highlights include TV movie Camp Rock, with 2.4 million viewers tuning in on its premiere weekend, surpassing High School Musical‘s first run by 23%, and tween series Hannah Montana that reached 1.2 million kids each week last year.
Meanwhile, Playhouse Disney’s audience share rose by more than 50% year-on-year. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse celebrated its best quarter, reaching 3.8 million sets of young eyeballs.
And premium movie channel Disney Cinemagic HD had a notable 2008 with its highest-ever ratings following its high-definition format launch on Sky this past December. All in all, Disney’s channels averaged 30.4% share amongst kids in multi-channel homes.
