The Jim Henson Company’s latest CGI-animated series Dinosaur Train will soon pull into US homes on PBS Kids.
The 40 x half-hour (80 x 11 minute) series is currently in production, bringing to light the fascination that preschoolers have with dinosaurs and trains, while educating viewers about natural science, natural history and paleontology. It follows a preschool-aged T-Rex named Buddy and his adoptive family of pteranodons as they hop on the Dinosaur Train for adventures, meeting and learning about dinos from other eras.
The Jim Henson Company will handle the property’s ancillary exploitation, including L&M activity, while PBS will handle DVD distribution to consumer and education markets.
The series, bowing this fall, will also have a presence at pbskids.org. The site, created in partnership with FableVision, includes games, learning tools and more, along with parent and teacher resources on PBS Parents (pbsparents.org) and PBS Teachers (pbsteachers.org).
