UK-based kids publisher Box of Frogs Media is set to bring animated characters Roobarb and Custard to a series of appbooks, following a deal with Bulldog Licensing and the brand’s owner A&B TV.

Box of Frogs will publish three appbooks that combine the original script, animations and new interactive narratives. The first rolls out this October, timed to coincide with Roobarb and Custard’s 40th anniversary.

The iconic dog and cat duo were created by British writer and artist Grange Calveley, first airing on the BBC in the early 1970s. They returned in 2005 for Roobarb and Custard Too, a revamped kids show that aired on Channel 5’s Milkshake block in the UK.

This new publishing deal adds to Bulldog’s existing licensing program for the brand, which includes BCI (apparel), Flametree (calendars), Fred and Ginger (pet accessories), Brazier & Co (plush) and Museums and Galleries (greetings cards).
