Puffin Rock, an animated preschool series narrated by Irish actor and comedian Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids, Moone Boy), made its television debut on RTÉjr in Ireland on Monday, January 12, and a second season has just been confirmed.

Co-produced by Ireland’s Cartoon Saloon (Song of the Sea, The Breadwinner), global publisher Penguin, and Northern Irish children’s media company Dog Ears, the 39 x seven-minute series will now air daily on the kidsnet and be made available on the RTÉjr app and RTÉjr’s website (www.rte.ie/rtejr).

Season one will also premiere later this year on Nick Jr. in the UK, and Penguin is set to produce digital and physical books and products to accompany the launch.

Production has also commenced on a second 39 x seven-minute season with continued funding support from Northern Ireland Screen and the Irish Film Board.

Puffin Rock follows the adventures of a family of puffins including young puffling, Oona, and her little brother, Baba, as they explore the sea, sky, and land around their wild and beautiful Irish island home.

As narrator, O’Dowd adds a gentle layer of humor and education to the series by providing amusing observations mixed with interesting wildlife facts.
