After a deal made earlier this month with VOXX Electronic, on-demand service Toon Googles is continuing to expand its reach in the streaming space, inking a deal with Sony to launch its 4K streaming app on CE giant’s 4K TVs and media players.

This latest deal will increase the number of kids-friendly videos available for streaming in Ultra HD (commonly known as 4K).

Available for immediate download via Sony’s 4K Ultra HD TVs and media players, the Toon Goggles app highlights shows like Bernard and Gormiti with a special 4K designation, so parents and children can access them via the devices.

As the development of 4K content, particularly in the kids space, has not kept up with the number of 4K devices hitting the market, the early adoption could potentially give Toon Goggles an edge over competitors in the VOD space. Content companies are also starting to adapt to 4K. For instance, Iconix Brand Group and Peanuts Worldwide are working on re-versioning the entire Peanuts library of content in 4K.
