• The Writers Guild of America, West's Animation Writers Caucus (AWC) has awarded its 10th-annual Animation Writing Award for lifetime achievement to Pixar writer-director Brad Bird. Bird's most recent film, Disney/Pixar's Ratatouille, won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film.

• Vivendi Entertainment Canada and marblemedia are bringing This is Emily Yeung to DVD. This is Emily Yeung: Arts and Crafts will be the first release to hit Canadian retail shelves on May 13, 2008. Arts and Crafts will be available in stores across the country and online at http://www.thisisemilyyeung.com.

• The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services and the Ad Council are joining qubo, NBC and the United States Olympic Committee to launch a new series of national public service ads to address the issue of childhood obesity. The new TV spots debut today to coincide with the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Media Summit in Chicago. The spots feature several Olympic hopefuls, as well as qubo's popular animated characters.
