Showing its commitment to original children’s content, 24-hour US preschool channel Sprout has greenlit new indie prodco Cottonwood Media’s first production, The Ollie & Moon Show, for 26 half-hour episodes.
Set to join Sprout’s lineup in 2017, the mixed-media series follows the globetrotting, comedic adventures of two feline best friends, and is based on an illustrated book series from US author/illustrator Diane Kredensor.
Cottonwood, founded by former Marathon boss David Michel in September 2014 with his partners Zoé Z. Carrera, and Cécile Lauritano, first announced the development project in October along with another Random House Children’s Books adaptation Squish.
Michel (Totally Spies!, Get Blake, Rekkit Rabbit) and Robert Vargas (Zack & Quack, Henry Hugglemonster) developed The Ollie & Moon Show in collaboration with Kredensor, who is the series’ creative producer. Kredensor’s credits also include Pinky and the Brain, Clifford the Big Red Dog and Word World.
With offices in Paris and L.A., Cottonwood currently has four series and one feature film in the development hopper.
