• Entertainment Rights has picked up worldwide distribution rights to Shelldon, a new 26 x half-hour CGI series about underwater sea creatures from Bangkok, Thailand-based Shellhut Entertainment. The deal includes rights across all forms of TV, digital media, home entertainment, music and licensing and merchandising, excluding Thailand, and the two companies will share representation in Japan and Korea.
• Johnny Depp, Jessica Alba, Eddie Murphy, Miley Cyrus, The Jonas Brothers, Drake Bell and Tony Hawk all picked up Kids Choice Awards at Nick’s telecast ceremony over the weekend. • Rome-based company Cartoon One has secured distrib rights for 52 x 13-minute CGI preschool series Buttercup Wood, a co-pro with Hong Kong-based Agogo Entertainment, via new deals with Mirax Blue Black 1908 (TV and video rights across Eastern Europe) and Moonscoop (French-speaking Europe).
• Foothill Entertainment has announced a string of deals heading into MIP: Kiddo the Super Truck has sold to SABC (South Africa), RTP (Portugal) and RTV (Slovenia); Hip Hop Kidz to RAISAT in Italy; Little Monsters to TF1 (France) and Channel 4 (Finland); Toy Warrior to Canal J (France) and DigiTurk (Turkey); and Microscopic Milton to Disney Spain, Canal + (Poland) and RTV (Slovenia).
