Some people spend years pitching failed toy concepts with the dream of creating the ultimate plaything, but Majesco Entertainment’s Toy Shop aims to turn that dream into a virtual reality.
Two children, whose grandfather has passed away, are put in charge of his toy shop. The caveat is if they can’t make it big in three years, the store will be sold to the city. Players are charged with the task of making and selling cool toys. And just like the real retail world, Christmas and Halloween have a direct affect on shopping behavior so customer service becomes paramount. Players have to check in on customers’ budgets, discover their desired toys and adjust prices and stock accordingly. If the customers aren’t happy and spread the word, the toy shop’s sales drop.
The simulation game developed by Amadora, Portugal-based interactive entertainment company Gameimvest for the Nintendo DS platform should be in real toy shops in Q2.
