UK indie blue-zoo Productions has scored a plum commission with Disney Channel Worldwide. As one of the first deals announced by the House of Mouse’s global original programming hub in London, it’s also the first commission for the BAFTA-nominated studio.

blue-zoo’s new tween-targeted action comedy is penned by Bob Baker (Wallace & Gromit) and directed by Oliver Hyatt. Clever Clogs (working title) revolves around a normal girl named Milly who’s surrounded by her abnormal family. Expect to see blue-zoo’s unique animation style, established in its first series Those Scurvy Rascals play an integral part in the development of Clever Clogs.

blue-zoo has experienced quite a growth spurt in the last year, expanding into larger offices in central London and employing a core team of 12 permanent staff. It’s annual turnover currently hovers around US$2.3 million and the team was involved in the production of more than 60 animated projects in 2006.
