Kids from across the UK will get the opportunity to try their hand at some of the most senior jobs at pubcaster BBC on November 20 as part of the Children’s Commissioner’s Takeover Challenge, which involved more than 44,000 children and 1,200 organisations last year.
Executive positions from director-general to controlling a live national broadcast on BBC Breakfast, Radio 1, Radio 5 and the Asian Network will be up for grabs during the initiative, which is run by The Children’s Commissioner for England and is designed to give kids a glimpse into how large organizations like the BBC operate.
While kids get a chance to be a part of the decision-making process and gain valuable real-world experience, the initiative is also expected to benefit the organizations by getting fresh perspectives on their business.
In the UK, children comprise roughly 20% of the population, and through platforms like CBBC and CBeebies, are a key segment of BBC’s audience.
