Malibu, California-based toyco Jakks Pacific has been busy of late, inking a number of master toy deals and has just added the Discovery Kids brand to its licensed product roster. Discovery Communications’ licensing agent Big Tent Entertainment helped broker the deal.
Jakks plans to launch a Discovery Kids toy line that emphasizes the educational qualities of the brand, and the deal marks the property’s entrée into mass-market toy retail. Discovery Kids activity sets, science kits, kids’ microscopes, role-play sets, arts & crafts, electronic learning aides, Plug it & Play TV Games, interactive toys, outdoor/seasonal products, radio controlled vehicles and puzzles are in the works, and the initial product assortment should roll out to US retailers in fall 2008.
