Mattel has announced its third major recall in as many months, taking a total of 948,000 toys off shelves worldwide. The voluntary recall covers 11 toy lines sold under the Barbie and Fisher-Price brands, including Dream Puppy House, Dream Kitty Condo, Living Room Playset and Desk & Chair Bedroom sets.

Mattel’s ongoing investigation of products it manufactures in China revealed that subcontractors painted the affected toys with lead-based paints between March 2007 and August 2007. The company’s stock price dropped 4.4% in pre-market trading since the recall was announced early this morning.
