Nickelodeon is injecting a little international intrigue into its preschool series The Backyardigans with new prime-time movie Super Secret Super Spy, which premieres on Monday, September 17 at 7 p.m. It’s a one-hour special revolving around super spies, covert operations and jaw-dropping gadgetry.

Grammy-award winner Cyndi Lauper performs the special’s theme song ‘The Lady in Pink’ as Nick Jr.’s backyard pals move to the beat in exotic locales such as London, Switzerland, the Caribbean and Miami.

The following day, a DVD containing the special along with two other adventures, including the never-aired ep ‘A Giant Problem’, will hit US retail.

To pique audience interest, Nick plans to tease clips on Nick Jr.’s internet portal and Time Warner’s Video on Demand service starting September 3.
