The Arthur Identity? Well, not quite, but it’s true that Matt Damon, star of the summer hit The Bourne Ultimatum, is making a guest appearance on WGBH/Cookie Jar Entertainment series and PBS Kids staple Arthur. The special 11-minute segment will air across the US on September 3.

Arthur writer Peter Hirsch and Damon attended Harvard together, and the celeb agreed to a guest role in the ep ‘The Making of Arthur.’ The segment features aardvark Arthur watching a TV talk show during which a furry-eared Damon solicits submissions for Postcards From You, a Project Greenlight-like show. (Incidentally, Postcards From You is a real PBS initiative that encourages kids to upload their own homemade videos to its website.) Arthur, Buster and friends send in their best video effort, and lo and behold, Damon shows up in Elwood City to meet the talented crew.

Damon did the voice work near his Miami home during a break from shooting The Bourne Ultimatum, and, by all reports, nailed the performance in a matter of minutes.
