Publishing powerhouse Simon & Schuster has acquired the rights to London, England-based Coolabi’s new girl-skewing property Scarlett and Crimson. The company is planning to launch a range of Scarlett and Crimson mass-market titles in the US, the UK, Canada, and other English-speaking territories in summer 2008.

Bobbi JG Weiss and David Codey Weiss, who have written for Disney, Nickelodeon, Warner Bros. and DC Comics, will be penning the books.

A joint-venture between Coolabi and The Ged Backland Studio, Scarlett and Crimson (as the name suggests) is a darker, yet stylish property that mines the goth vein for tween girls.
