HIT Entertainment is hoping that Orchard Books can conjure up a little enchantment, having named the UK firm as its publishing licensee for new girls’ property Rainbow Magic. The five-year deal gives Orchard Books English-language rights for the UK and Commonwealth territories.

HIT announced the acquisition of the core girl-skewing property earlier this year, and also unveiled its plans to develop an animated TV series based on the books. The Rainbow Magic series has been published in more than 20 countries, selling upwards of 15 million books around the globe since hitting the market in 2003.
