Bolstered by on-screen success in Australia and New Zealand, FremantleMedia Kids & Family’s rebooted Danger Mouse is now poised to gain retail momentum in those territories.
Following the CBBC-commissioned series’ premiere in the UK last September—34 years after its original debut—Danger Mouse launched in New Zealand on TV Four in January, and on Australia’s ABC3 in February.
On the toy front, Banter Toys & Collectibles has signed on as Australian distributor for master toy partner Jazwares’ range, which will launch later this year. And a partner for New Zealand is expected to be announced shortly.
Meanwhile, Penguin Random House has taken publishing rights for both Australia and New Zealand, and Roadshow Entertainment has snapped up DVD rights for both territories, with a new release called Mission Improbable set to launch in May.
Danger Mouse features animation from Ireland’s Boulder Media and voice work from English comedian Alexander Armstrong, Lena Headey (Game of Thrones), Richard Ayoade (The IT Crowd) and John Oliver (Last Week Tonight with John Oliver).
FremantleMedia owns the global TV and licensing rights to the series, which Netflix has also picked up to roll out across the US, Canada, Latin America, the Nordics, Benelux and Japan.
