Looking to tap the ever-fattening casual online game market, estimated to hit US$1.5 billion in revenues next year, toy giant Mattel is pairing up with RealNetworks. The digital entertainment services company is on-board to publish and distribute licensed PC-ready and online versions of Mattel classics Scrabble (excluding North America) and UNO worldwide.
The games should be ready to rollout by mid-2008, with titles based on other Mattel board games to follow. Seattle, Washington-based RealNetworks has created award-winning casual games such as Super Collapse and South Park 10: The Game, and continues to develops branded titles via its design studios GameHouse and Zylom.
