Taking a page out of Dr. Doolittle’s book, Nickelodeon is readying Nick News Adventure: If I Could Talk to the Elephants. The special is set to air on July 22 at 8:30 p.m. and will feature Nick News host/producer Linda Ellerbee and six US kids who left their laptops, cell phones and TVs to live in an elephant sanctuary in the mountains of Thailand.
The special spends a week in the life of each participant as they’re charged with the care and feeding of an elephant. Along with the fun stuff like riding and communicating with their animal charges, the kids rise to the considerable challenge of bathing and cleaning up after them.
Nick News celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2006 and is the longest-running kids’ news show in television history.
