El Segundo, California-based toy giant Mattel has announced the election of Vasant M. Prabhu, executive VP and CFO for Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, to its board of directors, effective September 1.
The election bumps the Mattel board’s ranks up to an even dozen members.
Prabhu is a seasoned business leader with more than 20 years of experience in corporate finance and management. Prior to joining Starwood in 2004, he served as EVP and CFO for Safeway, one of North America’s largest food retailers. His extensive background also includes stints with McGraw Hill and Pepsi Cola International.
