A copyright infringement lawsuit brought against MGA Entertainment by Oceanside, California-based Art Attacks has been struck down. The plaintiff had alleged that MGA ripped off the idea for the multi-billion dollar Bratz doll line from Art Attacks’ air brushed t-shirt characters.
On May 11, 2007, the nine-person jury issued a unanimous verdict on part of the claim and on July 2, 2007 the presiding judge threw any remaining claims.
Isaac Larian, MGA’s president and CEO said he was pleased with the result and is dedicated to continuing to ‘resist anything short of total victory’ in the company’s efforts to protect its IP.
