In collaboration with Warner Bros. Consumer Products on behalf of DC Entertainment, UK-based Egmont Publishing has acquired the UK publishing rights to Lego DC Super Heroes and the upcoming The LEGO Batman Movie.
Egmont’s first three Lego DC books will launch this October—two activity titles featuring Lego Superman and Batman mini-figures priced at US$10.10 each, and one activity sticker book (US$8.65).
Four titles tied-in to next year’s highly anticipated Lego Movie spin-off The LEGO Batman Movie starring Will Arnett as the Caped Crusader will follow in spring 2017—an activity book and an annual for next fall both featuring a Lego mini-figure, plus a choose-your-hero activity book and a diary.
The rights agreement was made possible by Egmont’s publisher John Packard, in partnership with Ameet Publishing director Eric Huang, the Lego Group and Warner Bros. Consumer Products, on behalf of DC Entertainment.
The LEGO Batman Movie is set to premiere next spring followed by a Lego Ninjago movie in the fall.
Egmont also holds publishing rights to Lego Ninjago.
