London-based HIT Entertainment has announced the creation of a new Global Consumer Products Group to be headed by current international EVP Peter Byrne. The move comes days after Patricia Wyatt announced she would be stepping down as president of HIT’s North American operations.
In his new remit, Byrne assumes responsibility for the company’s worldwide licensing, promotions, brand and retail marketing, and creative services. In addition, HIT’s live events strategy and theme-park ventures, including newly announced ThomasLand Europe, are now part of his purview. Current SVP & GM of North America Jamie Cygielman’s responsibilities have also been expanded to include the company’s Canuck operations and its North American creative resources group.
Byrne joined HIT in September 2005 following its acquisition by Apax Partners. As EVP of international, he led the restructuring and rapid expansion of the HIT’s presence in international markets. Before joining the company, he headed up the worldwide licensing group at 20th Century Fox.
