Global animation studio Toei Animation is delving into licensing and merchandising with the establishment of an in-house consumer products licensing division. The new division falls under the remit of Coy Edmunds, Toei’s newly appointed director of business development and licensing.

Headquartered in the company’s L.A. offices, the dedicated licensing operation will focus on the US market and make its official entrée into the industry at Licensing Show in June. The new division will focus initially on Toei’s Digimon brand.

Edmunds joins Toei Animation from Focus Sports Management where he served as a director and agent for the sports management organization.
