UK conglom Entertainment Rights has snagged the international TV distribution rights to Hasbro’s new Transformers animated series, which is pegged for a fall delivery.

The deal excludes Latin America, North America and certain Asian territories, but it does cover VOD platforms. Transformers: Animated consists of a 26 x 30-minute series and a 70-minute one-off special. The revamp is based on the 20-year-old boys toy brand and will be rendered in a 2-D animation style that closely resembles the look and feel of an original TV series that aired from 1984 to 1992.

Seeding the market and creating buzz for the projects before they start airing on TV, a live-action Transformers movie produced by DreamWorks, Paramount and Hasbro will open in the US on July 4, 2007.
