Following her July debut on Disney Channel and Disney Junior, and a robust consumer products program in place, Disney’s Elena of Avalor is ready for more.

Disney has greenlit a second season of animated series Elena of Avalor, which portrays the House of Mouse’s first Latina princess. The series was created and is executive-produced by Craig Gerber, and its second season will see story editor Silvia Cardenas Olivas add a co-producer credit to her role.

The July 22 premiere of Elena of Avalor, which incorporates influences from diverse Latin and Hispanic cultures, ranks as 2016’s top series telecast among all US kid-targeted TV networks, with 4.5 million total viewers. The series has since delivered more than 8.6 million viewer engagements on the Disney Channel and Disney Junior apps.

Off-screen, Elena is making her debut today at Walt Disney World in Florida, before also launching at Disneyland Resort in California in the fall.

Further extensions for the series include print and eBook titles from Disney Publishing; dolls, role-play products, accessories, home décor and apparel from Disney Store and licensees Hasbro, Jakks Pacific, Franco Manufacturing and Children’s Apparel Network; an EP soundtrack from Walt Disney Records; and a DVD from Disney Studios being released later this year.
