DIC Entertainment, Geffen Records and new media design company Poets Road are banding together to create a new celebrity music-driven mag for tweens called Kewl.

The group has already shipped 500,000 copies of the first issue nationwide for its retail debut later this month. Articles on High School Musical star Zac Efron, The Slumber Party Girls, Drake Bell of Nickelodeon’s Drake and Josh as well as Disney’s Hannah Montana, Miley Cyrus are bulking up the editorial lineup. And as is tradtion with girl-skewing mags, Kewl also offers fashion advice, quizzes, horoscopes and posters.

A companion website www.kewlmag.com that will be updated daily with exclusive content and house user-generated postings will follow.

The second issue is slated for publication in June. Meanwhile, the partners are in the early stages of developing Everything Kewl, a TV series hosted by the Slumber Party Girls that will feature movie, game and music reviews and celebrity interviews. A delivery date has yet to be set.
