US housewares emporium Bed Bath & Beyond has turned an eye to the infant merch market with the purchase of buybuy Baby. BB&B scooped up the privately owned New York-based retailer of infant and toddler merchandise for US$ 67 million.

Buybuy Baby operates a total of eight stores in New York, New Jersey, Maryland and Virginia, offering a broad assortment of products for wee ones, including furniture, car seats, strollers, feeding systems, bedding, bath accessories, toys and apparel.

In a way, the company is coming home to roost since Buybuy Baby was founded in 1996 by former Bed Bath & Beyond employees Richard and Jeffery Feinstein, who also happen to be the sons of BB&B’s co-chairman Leonard Feinstein.
