Spider-Man and company will have to load up on sunscreen now that Marvel Entertainment has agreed to license its superhero stable to developers building a US$1-billion theme park in Dubai.

The partnership with the Al Ahli Group in the United Arab Emirates has been in the works for more than two years and has the blessing of the oil-rich UAE government, which has been actively courting tourism for while now. Details concerning the park’s size and plans for rides and attractions are still under wraps. However, investors are planning a 2011 opening, with offices in Orlando, Dubai and Hollywood all working towards that goal.
